I’ve been following men’s fashion for inspiration as of late. I was also working on a birthday card, and since I like to personalize the cards, I put together some sketches for my card, and then to decided why not just create a mood board of what has been inspiring me in the men’s fashion world.
There are not a lot of guys who know how to dress so well, and it’s great to see a guy who is put together. Some men’s blogs I like to follow are Dapper Lou, Fashion for Men, and of course my fav is le 21eme which is not just men’s. I also love going to Mr.Porter to look at shoes for men. The leopard slip ons are from Mr.Porter by Undercover, and they are just amazing. A men’s designer I love is Paul Smith. He really knows how to make men’s fashion playful, but smart. The brogues I sketched above are inspired from his collection. You can find them here.
RRL also has a beautiful assortment of men’s fashion. It has a vintage inspired feel with rough, biker elements that bring in a sexy, but rugged appeal. I saw these custom made boots, called the Bowery, by a local L.A. designer. Although, they are brand new they appear vintage, and the quality and feel is incredible. All the guys who work at the RRL store on Melrose are always so stylish and of course wearing RRL. I always see them wearing these boots with their jeans rolled up, and beautiful blazers/coats, hence the inspiration for the men’s illustration.
I’ve been working on my illustrations, and watercoloring on my off time, and am having fun working on my style. It’s also something fun and creative that I can do when I am outside enjoying the LA weather these days…. have a great week!
